The AHSAA has a part-time opening for an Administrative Assistant to Programs.
JOB SUMMARY: Assist in various day-to-day operations of the Alabama High School Athletic Directors & Coaches Association that involves regulating and coordinating interscholastic athletic competition in an equitable manner while promoting the value of interscholastic athletics as an integral part of a student’s education-athletic experience by representing all member schools. As a liaison, coordinate communications and activities with the Bryant-Jordan Scholarship Foundation and the Alabama Sports Foundation. Salary is commensurate with experience.
QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
· Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent related experience
· 10-15 years of athletic management experience
· Working knowledge and understanding of AHSAA rules and policies
· Excellent communication and organizational skills
· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Assist in management of certain AHSAA and AHSADCA events
· Coordinate event management for the Mini-Clinic Coaching Series and the Principals and Athletic Director Conference
· Coordinate event management for all banquets and meals during All-Star Sports Week
· Liaison between the AHSAA and the Alabama Sports Foundation
· Liaison between the AHSAA and the Bryant-Jordan Scholarship Foundation

Cruise Winner
Scott Doss of Wadley High School won the Cruise For Two drawing at the 14th annual AHSADCA All-Star Sports Week. The cruise raffle is conducted each year by the AHSADCA at the annual Coaching School.
Coaches Receive Special Awards
The AHSADCA also honored 11 prep coaches named National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) 2009 State Coaches of the Year. The list included: William Booth, Hartselle (Baseball); Jack Doss, Butler (Boys Basketball); Terry Curtis, UMS-Wright (Football); David DiPiazza, John Carroll (Boys Soccer); Rick Cleveland, UMS-Wright ( Boys Tennis); Eddie Brundidge, T.R. Miller (Boys Track and Field); Harley Lamey, Piedmont (Wrestling); Kelly Holland, Spain Park (Girls Golf); Marvin Chou, Randolph (Girls Soccer); Roger Palmer, Sparkman (Softball); and Melissa Hammond, Lexington (Volleyball).
Greg Hicks of the Huntsville City Schools, was named AHSADCA State Athletic Director of the Year and Lymos McDonald of R.A. Hubbard received the Past President’s Award. McDonald is now at Colbert County High School.
Coaches' Children Scholarship Winners
The AHSADCA also awarded 10 college scholarships of $1,000 each to 2010 graduating seniors who are children of the prep coaches or administrators. The 10 included Christine Arensberg, McGill-Toolen; Katie Andrews, Carroll; Kimberly McCaleb, Bibb County; Justin Morgan, Central-Phenix City; Austin Braasch, Vestavia Hills; Jared Bogle, Gaston; Kacy Holsonback, South Lamar; Maddie Reaves, Winfield; John Garrett Mayfield, Central-Florence; and Taylor Thrash, Fyffe.
